Richard Burr’s Crazy Anti-Encryption Bill

Howdy! I'm Sean Haugh, running as a Libertarian for US Senate in North Carolina is 2016.

I simply couldn't have asked for an opponent more opposite of me on just about every single issue than Richard Burr. This nutty new Burr-Feinstein anti-encryption bill highlights our differences in so many ways. I can't even include them all in one video.

Part of the danger of this bill is that it's totally nonsensical. Julian Sanchez of Cato Institute said it best, “(it) may be the most insane thing I've ever seen seriously offered as a piece of legislation. It is 'do magic' in legalese.”

And that's typical Richard Burr, always thinking he's an expert on everything just because he's a Senator.

Burr and Feinstein both have long been openly for totalitarianism when it comes to government being able to spy on everything you do and say. They have consistently worked to make the people subjects of the government, rather than government being a servant of the people like it's supposed to be. On this, they stand together in opposition to everything the Founders ever stood for.

They also mean to put us all at risk by weakening encryption. Any back-door access created for the government can easily be discovered and exploited by hackers. Seriously, would you want to keep on doing online banking or shopping if you knew everybody and their dog can have access to your accounts? Forcing manufacturers to build government access into their products would quickly destroy all online commerce.

The damage to American business goes even further than that. No one in their right mind will want to do business with a company who can't secure their own data. Even worse, this move would inspire other countries, many which are openly hostile to human rights, to also insist on this access.

Richard Burr is trying to put America at the vanguard of tyranny worldwide, and he doesn't care if he burns American commerce to the ground to do it. North Carolina needs another Senator.

I'm Sean Haugh, and with your help, I can defeat Richard Burr in November.
